IED event in Colombia on Wed 12th August 2026

In the Piamarga village, in the municipality of Briceño, Antioquia, soldiers from the Rapid Deployment Force No. 7 of the @COL_EJERCITO (Colombian Army) located two illegal arms caches belonging to the FARC's Residual Organized Armed Group, Structure 36. During the military operation, two explosive devices suitable for drone deployment and four antipersonnel mines were found and destroyed, along with communications and logistical equipment intended for use by the aforementioned criminal group. These explosives were discovered by soldiers near a road frequently used by the local civilian population, posing a direct threat to the lives and safety of the communities.
