IED event in Colombia on Thu 13th August 2026

As part of the ongoing offensive in the department of #Antioquia, soldiers from the Rapid Deployment Force No. 7 of the @COL_EJERCITO (Colombian Army), through military intelligence operations, located an illegal cache apparently belonging to the FARC's residual organized armed group, Structure 36, in the village of La Palestina, municipality of Briceño. At the site, 14 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) activated by pressure, 200 meters of detonating cord, 13 non-electric detonators, four tension detonators, a container of mercury, two containers of PVC glue, and 10 syringes were found and destroyed in a controlled manner. With this result, the National Army significantly impacts this armed group's ability to use explosive devices against the civilian population and troops. We continue working for the safety of the communities and the protection of those fulfilling their constitutional mission in this region of the country.
