SAA event in Mexico on Wed 22nd July 2026

An armed attack left a couple dead early Saturday morning as they traveled in a private vehicle on Eje 3 Oriente, near the Arneses causeway, on the border of the Iztapalapa borough in Mexico City. The gunmen fled on a motorcycle after carrying out the attack. The attack occurred in the Minerva neighborhood, where armed individuals pulled alongside the victims' vehicle and opened fire multiple times. According to police reports, the assailants intercepted the dark-colored car in which the man and woman were traveling. After approaching the vehicle, they fired at close range, causing serious injuries before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction. Officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and emergency services responded to the scene to provide medical assistance. However, the paramedics could only confirm the death of both people inside the vehicle due to the gunshot wounds.
