Jessica Cárdenas Macías, 35, a lawyer and computer assistant at the Women's Justice Center (CJM) in Guadalajara, was shot and killed by her partner, 28-year-old State Police officer Amisadab Giezi Murillo Gómez, who then took his own life. The crime occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 3, in the San José del Quince neighborhood of El Salto, Jalisco, inside an official vehicle. The initial statements made by authorities treated the incident as an "extended suicide," a term dismissed in legal terms that caused outrage when it was publicized in the media as an attempt to downplay the severity of the femicide. Amisadab Murillo served as the personal bodyguard of Luis Pantoja Magallón, a commander in the state police force, with whom he also worked during his tenure as head of the Tlaquepaque Police Station (2021-2024). Due to his protective role, the officer kept his service weapon under his care 24 hours a day.
