An artillery shell landed and exploded inside the main village football field in Zee Yaung Village, Theinzayat Town, Kyaikto Township, Mon State, killing a 5-year-old child and injuring 11 others, according to a statement from Kyaikto Hospital.

On August 19 at 11:00 AM, the artillery shell landed and exploded, killing a 5-year-old kindergarten (KG) student and injuring 11 civilians.

This morning, as spectators gathered along the side of the field to watch a monsoon season football tournament taking place at the Zee Yaung Village football ground, an artillery shell struck directly alongside the crowd and detonated.

The 5-year-old KG student died on the spot. Among the 11 injured civilians, four remain in critical condition.
