A serviceman suspected of murdering his comrade has been detained in the Mykolaiv region . According to police, a conflict arose between the men during service, after which one of them used a weapon.

This was reported on August 20 by the Main Directorate of the National Police of Mykolaiv Region.

According to police, the incident occurred on August 19 in Ochakiv. A 40-year-old serviceman and his 52-year-old comrade were on duty when a conflict arose between the men.

During the argument, the younger man fired several shots from a weapon attached to his body at his brother. Law enforcement officers also determined that the men had had a long-standing hostile relationship, the report said.

"The victim died at the scene from the gunshot wounds he sustained."

The Kalashnikov machine gun and spent cartridges seized from the suspect were sent for examination.

The man was detained. He was informed of suspicion under the article "Intentional Murder." The article provides for up to 15 years in prison.
