SAA event in Mexico on Wed 19th August 2026

Elements of the State Citizen Security Force (FESC), the Mexican Navy (SEMAR), and agents of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) arrested Édgar Hurtado Navarro, alias "Sergeant Phoenix," the head of hitmen for Los Rusos, in the Mexicali Valley.

The arrest occurred after a chase on Avenida de la Tierra, between Tabachín and Novena streets, in the rural community of Ciudad Guadalupe Victoria. At that location, security forces blocked the path of a white Chevrolet Cruze with California license plates, in which the suspect, 52 years old and originally from Michoacán, was traveling with a 38-year-old woman identified as Inés Marlen.

The detainee is identified as a close associate of Israel Leonel Trigueros Muñoz, alias "El Isra," considered a high-priority target within the Peacebuilding Roundtables. This operation follows the recent capture of Felipe de Jesús, alias "El Canelo," in the same region.

The following items were seized in the operation:

• 5 firearms of various calibers (some for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces)
• 6 magazines
• 91 rounds of .223 caliber ammunition
• 620 packages containing a total of 344 grams of methamphetamine, bearing Ford and Versace brand markings
• 1 white Chevrolet Cruze with California license plates 8DZP333

The detainees, the weapons, the illicit substance, and the vehicle were turned over to the appropriate law enforcement authorities to begin the investigation and determine their legal status.
