On 12 August 2026, Russian forces (units of the 'South' group using operational-tactical aviation, combat UAVs, missile forces, and artillery) struck the Ukrainian personnel and equipment, including a territorial defense brigade (coded to Mykolaipillia) near Slovyansk town, Donetsk. According to Russian sources, Ukrainian military lost: two armored combat vehicles, 27 vehicles, two field artillery pieces and up to 245 Ukrainian servicemen were killed near Mykolaipillia, Nykonorivka, Pershomariivka, Slovyansk, Orikhuvatka, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka and Mykolayivka [Russian MoD reported 245 fatalities.
