On 14 August 2026, a drone came down in a wooded area near the Cetatuia stone quarry close to Luncavita village (Luncavita, Tulcea), about five kilometers from the border with Ukraine, causing an explosion followed by a fire. Preliminary information indicated no casualties or material damage. The Ministry of National Defense said its radar surveillance systems had not detected the aircraft because it was flying at very low altitude, and a ministry team with an IAR PUMA 330 SOCAT helicopter was to survey the area. Firefighters from the Macin section responded, an air alert was declared for northern Tulcea county at 11:45, and an RO-Alert message was sent to residents of northern Tulcea and eastern Galati counties.
