On 27 August 2021, in Thantlang town (Thantlang township, Hakha district, Chin state), an unexploded shell exploded when the house owner tried to take the shell out of the house. The owner was killed by the blast and 11 were injured. The shell first landed in his house on August 25 during fighting between the military and the Thantlang CDF and was fired by the military.
