On 9 August 2026, an unidentified armed group used a drone to strike a water desalination plant in the Harsha area of Az Zawiyah (Az Zawiyah, West). The drone pierced at least one main pipeline, forcing the water plant to shut down. The attack took place one day after a drone struck an unprocessed naphtha tank in the Zawiyah oil refinery (coded separately), which is located near the water desalination plant in Al Harsha. There were no casualties.
