On 10 August 2026, the Ethiopian Air Force carried out multiple drone strikes on TDF-Army 26 units in Merewa, Raya Alamata (Southern Tigray, Tigray). At least 3 TDF soldiers were killed, and 7 others were injured. The TPLF confirmed that the strikes targeted TDF soldiers and caused casualties but provided no further details. Two of the strikes hit a secondary school where members of the TDF-Army 26 were sheltering, and the third struck near a river.
