Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Talmaza area, Moldova, Republic of on Mon 17th August 2026

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova strongly condemned the violation of the country's airspace and the explosion that occurred near the village of Talmaza and caused a fire.

Details : The ministry did not specify which object violated the airspace, but noted that Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine has direct consequences for the security of Moldova.

"This incident is a serious violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova and poses a direct threat to the security of our citizens. Such incidents are unacceptable," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Prehistory:

- On the evening of August 17, an unknown object entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. An explosion was later recorded in the country .

- Specialists from the police explosives and technical service are to examine the debris found at the scene to determine exactly what kind of device it is.

- At the same time, Ukrainian channels on Telegram, which track airstrikes over the territory of Ukraine, claim that the Russian drone-missile "Banderol" flew over the territory of the Republic of Moldova, passing approximately 35 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
