SAA event in Mexico on Fri 7th August 2026

Members of the National Guard repelled an armed attack perpetrated by unknown civilians in the municipality of Guasave, Sinaloa, during patrols aimed at protecting assets and road infrastructure along the Mexico 15 International Highway. The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m. at a gas station located in the El Burrión district. Federal agents identified a vehicle acting suspiciously, at which point heavily armed individuals opened fire on the security personnel. Faced with the imminent threat to their safety, the agents activated the established protocols for protection and exchange of fire, causing the attackers to flee in several vehicles. To guarantee stability and public order, a joint security operation was deployed with the Mexican Army and the Secretariat of Citizen Security. At the scene, our reporter confirmed the presence of numerous spent high-caliber shell casings scattered on the asphalt of the gas station. The relevant authorities initiated the corresponding legal proceedings for the collection of evidence. No injuries to officers or civilians were reported, nor were any arrests made following the institutional intervention.
