SAA event in Mexico on Sat 8th August 2026

In a coordinated security operation in Torreón, Coahuila, members of the Mexican Army (SEDENA), the National Guard, and the state prosecutor's office arrested Ernesto Herrera, alias "El Güino," along with two other individuals in a commercial area. During the operation, authorities seized a firearm without the corresponding legal documentation and turned the detainees over to the Public Prosecutor's Office. Herrera had previously been the subject of media attention in January 2025 after leaflets were dropped from an aircraft in the Durango municipalities of Gómez Palacio and Santiago Papasquiaro. These leaflets alleged links between business owners, military personnel, and the "Los Cabrera" criminal organization, mentioning alleged extortion and other serious crimes. This arrest impacts operational dynamics in the border region between Coahuila and Durango, a key area for asset protection and regional stability. Federal authorities will continue investigations to determine the criminal responsibilities of the accused in strict adherence to the institutional order.
