A confrontation between members of the National Guard and a group of gunmen occurred on the night of Sunday, August 9, 2026, resulting in four gunmen wounded, eight arrested, and the seizure of weapons in the Scally sector of Los Mochis, Sinaloa. According to official reports, the incident began when the gunmen, traveling in a black Chevrolet Suburban, attempted to evade federal forces. This led to a chase that ended at the intersection of Alfonso Cano Street and Antonio Rosales Boulevard. During the exchange of gunfire, the driver of the Suburban lost control, causing the vehicle to mount the median and crash into a tree. Multiple shots were heard at the scene as federal agents neutralized the threat.
