Commercial Motorcyclist Found Dead With Gunshot Wounds in Plateau

A commercial motorcyclist, identified as Mr Gabriel Ishaya, has been found dead with gunshot wounds along the Gero road in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

A military source told Zagazola Makama that the incident was reported at about 7:00 a.m. on August 12, 2026, after troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), deployed at Gyel responded to a report of a corpse and motorcycle discovered along the road.

Upon arrival at the location, the troops confirmed the discovery and found the deceased with gunshot wounds. Eight empty cases of 7.62mm Special ammunition were also recovered at the scene.

The corpse was subsequently evacuated by Keystone B Division for further necessary action. Preliminary investigation revealed that Ishaya was a commercial motorcyclist from Saminaka in Kaduna State and was resident in Tanchol, Gyel District.

The circumstances surrounding the killing remain unclear, while further investigation is being conducted by Keystone B Division to determine the motive and identify those responsible. Security agencies have continued efforts to establish the circumstances of the incident and prevent further attacks along the route.
