Culiacán, Sinaloa — Members of the Special Operations Group of the State Preventive Police arrested an individual in the Libertad neighborhood, south of Culiacán, as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard public safety and stability in the region. The suspect was located as he exited a sedan carrying a high-powered firearm. Upon noticing the presence of law enforcement, the suspect attempted to hide in a nearby building, where he was apprehended without a shot being fired. Our reporter on the scene confirmed the deployment of forensic experts photographing the vehicle and the establishment of a perimeter cordon around the street. During the inspection of the Volkswagen Passat, authorities seized an AK-47 rifle chambered in 7.62x39mm, a machine gun chambered in 5.56x45mm, five rifle magazines, 150 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, 400 rounds of 5.56x45mm ammunition, a tactical vest with ballistic plates, 100 pills of suspected fentanyl weighing approximately 12 grams, 200 doses of suspected methamphetamine weighing approximately 54 grams, and four cell phones. The suspect and the seized items were transferred to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Attorney General of the Republic for the corresponding legal proceedings.
