On 6 August 2026, Houthi forces launched coordinated waves of suicide drones and 12 ballistic missiles targeting government military camps and units, including the 1st brigade of the Yemeni Emergency Forces and the 23rd IRG Armored Brigade forces (coded as generic IRG military forces), in Ruwayk (Marib, Marib), Al Thanyiah (coded separately), and Al Abr (coded separately). The attacks struck barracks and weapon depots, causing fatalities, injuries, fires, and material damage. The Houthi forces claimed the strikes targeted military mobilizations preparing for escalation against them, while the Emergency Forces claimed the attacks followed security operations against smuggling, banditry, and organized crime. Different IRG sources reported conflicting fatalities from the attack, ranging from 30 to at least 58 killed IRG soldiers. Fatalities coded as 30 following the most conservative estimate. Up to 64 were also injured in the attacks. At least 30 total fatalities split across 3 locations. 10 fatalities coded to this location. One source claimed that AQAP militants took part in the attack by launching drones.
