On 5 August 2026, around 11:20 pm Muscat time, suspected IRGC forces launched 2 unspecified projectiles (coded as shelling/missile attack) targeting an unnamed tanker around 9 nm southeast of Kumzar (coded to Coast of Kumzar) (Khasab, Musandam), while it was transiting north toward the Strait of Hormuz. The attack caused 2 explosions in the tanker's vicinity without impacting it, causing it to alter course and abort transit. There was no damage or casualties.
