On 4 August 2026, in the morning, the Burkinabe army escorting a convoy intended for the Essakane industrial gold mine struck an IED planted by an armed group (likely ISSP based on previous attacks in the area, modus operandi, and the militant group's activity), in the village of Sambonaye (Dori, Seno, Sahel). Around 10 soldiers were killed, and fifteen others were injured.
