On the night of Tuesday, August 4, the well-known influencer and TikToker César Gastélum, 25, was shot and killed in the Tres Ríos Urban Development in Culiacán, Sinaloa.

The crime occurred minutes before 8:00 p.m. in the vehicle access area of ​​a KFC fast - food restaurant located on Sánchez Alonso Boulevard, while the victim was live-streaming on his social media accounts.

At the time of the attack, Gastélum was recording material with two companions; all three were wearing uniforms and carrying Rappi backpacks.

According to official reports and the recording of the incident, two slim-built hitmen on a white and red motorcycle intercepted the content creator and shot him at point-blank range, causing his instant death.

The attackers, who were wearing safety helmets and blue jeans with navy blue and light-colored t-shirts respectively, fled the scene immediately after the attack.

The murder was captured on live television , which was watched by thousands of viewers in real time.

César Gastélum enjoyed a wide digital reach, accumulating more than half a million followers on TikTok and over 100,000 on Instagram.

The attack prompted a rapid deployment of law enforcement agencies from all three levels of government, including the Mexican Army and the State Police.

Authorities cordoned off the area and closed one lane of traffic to preserve the crime scene. Personnel from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) took charge of collecting evidence and opened an investigation to locate those responsible.
