Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Crimea, Hvardiiske Airbase area, Ukraine on Fri 7th August 2026

Ammunition Explodes at Hvardiiske Airbase in Occupied Crimea.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a nighttime strike on the Hvardiiske military airbase in occupied Crimea on August 7. The airbase is reportedly used by Russian forces to launch Shahed drones.

The Crimean Wind monitoring channel reported the strike.

Local residents recorded incoming flight activity between 03:30–03:39 a.m. and again between 04:34–04:47 a.m. Shortly afterward, a large fire broke out at the military facility, with reports suggesting that a fuel and lubricants storage area may have been hit and caught fire.

Witnesses also reported secondary explosions involving small arms ammunition.

Two fire hotspots in the area of the Hvardiiske military airbase were also detected by satellites from the NASA FIRMS service.

Last month, Ukrainian forces struck targets at this airbase at least twice.

On July 2, reports emerged of a Ukrainian Security Service attack on warehouses storing kamikaze drones.

A comparison of satellite images from June 15, June 27, and July 2 indicates damage to at least two hangars.

One of the hangars shows a hole in the roof, which may indicate a direct hit, while another shows signs of damage to the rear wall.

On July 18, Ukrainian drones attacked the hangars again, where Shahed and Gerbera-type unmanned aerial vehicles were stored and maintained.

Analysis of satellite imagery confirmed at least eight impacts. In one of the hangars, a detonation of warheads intended for the drones likely occurred.

It should be noted that earlier this morning, Lyutyi strike drones struck the logistics hub of the Russian marketplace Wildberries in Yekaterinburg of the Sverdlovsk region.
