RPG event in Kayin State, Kawkareik Township area, Myanmar on Mon 3rd August 2026

In Eastern Dawna, Dooplaya District, under the control of KNU Brigade (6), Karen State, KNLA and joint revolutionary forces intercepted and attacked a SAC column advancing for territorial control, killing almost the entire column—including a commander with the rank of Major—and seizing a large quantity of weapons and ammunition, KNU-Dooplaya District announced today.

Light Infantry Battalions LIB (203) and LIB (210) under the SAC's 22nd Light Infantry Division had entered in large force to regain control of territories lost in Eastern Dawna.

On August 3, forces led by Lieutenant Colonel Saw Da Baw, Commander of KNLA Battalion (28), along with joint revolutionary forces, engaged this column in combat, resulting in the deaths of numerous personnel, including the column commander with the rank of Major from LIB (203).

Following the battle, bodies of SAC personnel and numerous weapons and ammunition were left behind on the frontline battlefield. Revolutionary forces, led mainly by the KNLA, conducted clearance operations, and weapons and ammunition seized so far include: 1 MA-1 rifle, 2 MA-2 rifles, 2 MA-3 rifles, 1 MA with underslung grenade launcher, 1 RPG/GPG, 1 MA BMA, 1 drum magazine, 12 MA magazines, 755 rounds of MA ammunition, 3 60mm mortar shells, 5 Energa grenades, 1 RPG round, and 1 propellant charge.
