Shwephi Myay, August 4

The Karen Army-KNLA joint forces intercepted and attacked the KNLA's 6th Brigade's (KNLA) troops who were advancing to regain control of the area in the eastern part of Dawna, Duplaya District, Karen State. The KNU announced on August 3 that the attack resulted in the elimination of almost an entire military column, including the commander, and the seizure of weapons and ammunition.

The statement said that the infantry battalions (203rd Infantry Battalion, 210th Infantry Battalion) under the 22nd Division intercepted the advance of the troops on the eastern side of Dawna, resulting in the death of almost the entire platoon, including the platoon commander of 203rd Infantry Battalion, a major-level unit. The column was led by Lieutenant Colonel Saw Daw Baw of the KNLA Battalion 28, and was said to have been confronted by KNLA forces and the Revolutionary Joint Force.

The weapons and ammunition seized during the battle were 2 MA-3 guns, 2 MA-2 guns, 1 MA-1 gun, 1 MA combined gun, 1 RPG launcher, 1 MA BMA gun, 1 box of rounds, 12 MA boxes, 755 MA rounds, 3 60mm grenades, 5 Inaka bombs, 1 RPG round, and 1 grenade.

KUN said the military council used the military service law as an excuse to forcibly conscript young men across the country and send them to the front lines. Therefore, the KNU once again urges soldiers and troops who are being forced into military service against their will to turn themselves in to the nearest revolutionary forces to protect their lives and future.
