Heavy artillery shells fired by junta forces landed on the Thai side of the border, damaging several homes during ongoing clashes south of Myawaddy Township along the Thai-Myanmar border, a border military source told Mizzima.

During clashes on the morning of yesterday (August 2), around five artillery shells fired by the junta military landed and exploded inside Mae Kon Khen village in Thailand, damaging five houses and a monastery building.

As a result, Thai authorities evacuated local residents along the border routes to safer areas and tightened security measures.
