SAA event in Magway Region, Myothit Township area, Myanmar on Mon 27th July 2026

Mizzima. A police officer who completed sub-inspector training died following an exchange of gunfire with junta forces on the Natmauk-Myothit road section in Magway Region, according to an official from Battalion 902 of the Naypyidaw Regional Military Command.

The exchange of gunfire occurred around 3:45 PM on July 27 with members of the junta group aboard a suspicious vehicle that attempted to flee during a surprise inspection by the People's Defense Force on that road section.

During the incident, three individuals in the vehicle got out and escaped, while weapons, ammunition, and military gear left in the vehicle were seized, according to a statement released yesterday evening by Battalion 902, Company 3 (Taungdwingyi Company).

Following the shootout, one vehicle, one phone, 74 rounds of G3 ammunition, one pair of handcuffs, and two helmets, including one bulletproof helmet, were seized, the statement noted.
