Vigilante Arrested with Illegal Ammunition in Nasarawa

Troops of Sector 2, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested a local vigilante for illegal possession of ammunition in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect was apprehended at about 5:00 p.m. on Aug. 1 at Gidan Ausa in Doma during a security operation by troops deployed in the area.

The suspect was found in possession of 12 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, which he could not lawfully account for.

Following the arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Nigeria Police, Doma Division, for further investigation and possible prosecution, while the recovered ammunition remains in the custody of the troops as part of ongoing investigations.

Security sources said the operation forms part of sustained efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and ammunition and enhance security across Nasarawa State.
