Bandits Kill Farmer, Abduct Another, Rustle Cattle in Sokoto

Suspected bandits have killed one civilian, abducted another farmer and rustled cattle in separate attacks across Isa and Rabah Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that troops of the 26 Battalion stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Isa responded to a distress call at about 11:00 a.m. on Aug. 1 following reports of bandit activity at Kona Isa Village in Isa LGA.

The sources said two armed bandits riding on a motorcycle abducted a farmer while he was working on his farmland before fleeing the area.

Troops immediately launched a pursuit and combed the surrounding area but did not make contact with the fleeing attackers.

In a related incident, suspected bandits raided Gandi Village in Rabah Local Government Area, where they rustled an unspecified number of cattle before engaging troops in the area.

During the attack, one civilian was killed, while five others sustained gunshot wounds.

The injured victims were evacuated for medical treatment, while security forces have intensified efforts to track the attackers, rescue the abducted farmer and recover the stolen livestock.
