Russia attacks Kyiv with ballistic missiles: one killed and 26 injured, large fires across city.

Russian forces launched a ballistic missile attack on the city of Kyiv on the night of 4-5 August, sparking large fires. Early reports have indicated that one person has been killed and 26 injured.

Quote: "An air-raid warning has been issued in Kyiv due to the threat of the enemy using ballistic missiles."

Details: At least six powerful explosions were heard across the city at around 00:20.

At least 10 more explosions followed at around 00:30.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said missile strikes had been recorded in the Obolonskyi district.

Kyiv City Military Administration later added that warehouse buildings were on fire in the Obolonskyi, Desnianskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts as a result of the attack.

"Emergency services are heading to the scene," Klitschko said.

Further explosions were heard over the city at around 01:15.

Update: Klitschko said a house had been destroyed in the Holosiivskyi district, with people possibly trapped under the rubble.

A strike on a non-residential building also caused an ammonia leak.

At one of the strike sites, a secondary explosion damaged an ambulance, injuring the driver.

As of 02:10, the effects of the attack had been recorded at at least seven locations across the Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi, Desnianskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts of Kyiv.

Quote from Kyiv City Military Administration: "Large warehouse fires have broken out. In addition, search operations are continuing for people trapped under the rubble in the Holosiivskyi district.

Sadly, a woman has been killed by the enemy. The number of people injured in the Russian attack has risen to 12."

Details: Emergency crews also continued working at the site of the ammonia leak in the Holosiivskyi district. Early reports indicate that the attack damaged a tank containing around 300 litres of ammonia.

Rescue workers have contained the leak. There is no threat to the public.

As of 06:05, the number of people injured in the Russian attack had risen to 24.

"Fifteen people have been taken to hospital. Four are in a critical condition," Klitschko said.

Update: Klitschko said at 08:15 that the number of people injured in the Russian attack on Kyiv had risen to 26, 16 of whom are being treated in city hospitals
