On 10 August 2021, PKK-YJA STAR militants carried out a remote explosive attack targeting Turkish military soldiers positioned in Gire Indirme area (Kurdish name) in Xantur (Khantur Mountain) region in Zakho district of Duhok. A number of Turkish soldiers were killed in the attack. Unknown number of fatalities coded as 3.
