Missile event in Oman on Fri 31st July 2026
31st July 2026
On 31 July 2026, evening, the IRGC naval forces targeted (coded as shelling/missile attack) the Gaslog Shanghai LNG tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, around 11 nm northeast off of the Coast of Limah (Khasab, Musandam) after it transited an 'undeclared route' and ignored warnings under US air escort. The attack directly impacted the vessel's engine room, causing a fire that was put out by the crew. The ship was left without power after the attack and the Omani coast guard and salvage teams mobilized to aid the vessel. There were no casualties. The IRGC claimed to have also forced 4 other unnamed tankers to turn back after sending them warnings.
