On 12 August 2021, in Loikaw Township, Kayah State, after Pekon People's Defense Force mined and destroyed two pylons supporting power lines that supply power to the military bases in Nay Pyi Taw from Lawpita Hydropower Plant in Kayah State, the military came to the scene for mine clearance. The soldiers stepped on landmines. The landmine explosions also killed some soldiers. Unknown fatalities coded as 3.
