UAV event in Saudi Arabia on Mon 27th July 2026
27th July 2026
On 27 July 2026, suspected Iraq-based militias (likely linked to Iranian-backed groups due to ongoing hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran) conducted drone strikes targeting the Abqayq Saudi ARAMCO Oil facility (Buqayq, Eastern). Satellite imagery suggested that the attacks caused a fire at the facility, damaging and destroying some of the units. The Saudi Ministry of Defense said its forces intercepted drones targeting oil facilities in the Eastern and Ar Riyadh provinces (coded as separate events) and claimed that they originated from Iraq. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq denied responsibility for the attacks in Saudi Arabia. On the same day, the Houthi military claimed that its forces launched drones targeting Saudi infrastructure vital to transporting, but did not name the target.
