Around 27 July 2026 (between 24 - 30 July) (conflicting reports), the Indonesian military and police conducted operations in search of TPNPB in the Korowai area Yahukimo regency (coded to Dekai district, Highland Papua province) (coded to Dekai town). The rebels claimed that a rebel, three civilians (likely Papuans based on their names), and four Indonesian soldiers died during the armed clash in the Korowai area since 19 to 30 July 2026, while a local source only stated that three Papuan civilians died, one of them was from the Korowai tribal group. Hundreds of Papuans fled their houses and sought shelter in the surrounding forest (coded separately). The rebels and local sources also claimed that the state forces fired shots at the civilian settlement and conducted an aerial attack using helicopters and drones.
