On 29 July 2026, US and Saudi warplanes (coded as MFOUS as part of the ongoing US-Iran conflict) conducted three airstrikes targeting the Popular Mobilization Forces HQ with at least two missiles in the area of Nahran Omar in Al Dair district (coded as Nahiyat ad Dayr, Al Basrah). The PMF cordoned off the site. The attack was condemned by the Iraqi government and the Iraqi National Security Council. Saudi Arabia had earlier accused Iraqi pro-Iranian militias of attempting to strike its petroleum facilities with drones. 2 members of the PMF were injured, one of them lightly. Material damage was caused to the site. There were no fatalities.
