Around 29 July 2026 (as reported), in the rural area of Arauquita (Arauca), a man stepped on a landmine that had been planted by unidentified perpetrators while he was at his property. The man was taken to a hospital, were one of his legs had to be amputated. The locals have been warning that, due to recent floods in the area, several explosives could have shifted from their original location and might now be closer to civilians. There were no fatalities.
