On Sunday afternoon, National Guard members seized an armored vehicle and several high-powered weapons on the Tepatitlán de Morelos–San Juan de los Lagos free highway, near the municipality of San Miguel el Alto, Jalisco, after successfully repelling an armed attack. According to official reports, the incident involved a confrontation between gunmen and federal agents at the San Miguel el Alto intersection. Following the shootout, the assailants abandoned their vehicle in the roadway and fled on foot into nearby areas. They had also blocked the road with a stolen car, which they then set on fire.
