Four civilians were killed and two others seriously injured this afternoon when a Myanmar military jet bombed Shwe Hlay Village in Thandwe Township.
The attack occurred around 3:00 PM on July 31, when a junta fighter jet dropped three heavy bombs in two consecutive runs. Two bombs detonated between Lin Thi and Shwe Hlay villages, while a 500-pound bomb directly struck a local grocery store.
The blast destroyed the shop, instantly killing the owner, U Myo Zaw Win (37), his wife, Daw May Myat Lwin (37), and another resident. A 17-year-old local girl, Ma Swe Zin Aye, was also killed in the attack.
The store owner's 1-year-old son, Maung Nyan Lin Htet, and another civilian, U Zaw Thein (50), sustained severe injuries and are currently undergoing emergency medical treatment.
The airstrike also destroyed three nearby houses and two vehicles.
