Four arrested and intervened 36 assault rifles and hand grenades:The National Police hits organized crime again and seizes an arsenal of weapons in Malaga  

The agents began the investigation last May achieving the interception of automatic long weapons, hand grenades and 180 cartridges of war ammunition, in a police operation that culminated in the arrest of the driver in charge of transporting them, which is already in pretrial detention

Following this arrest and through various investigative proceedings, the agents have been able to identify a criminal structure whose criminal activity was based on arms and drug trafficking

The investigation, declared secret, has been carried out by agents of the UDYCO Costa del Sol (Drug and Organized Crime Unit) of the Provincial Police Station of Malaga

Agents of the National Police have seized in the province of Malaga an arsenal of weapons and have arrested four people. 36 long guns, 11 short guns, 11 hand grenades and abundant ammunition, among other effects, have been intervened. The agents began the investigation last May achieving the interception of automatic long weapons along with hand grenades and 180 cartridges of war ammunition, in a police operation that culminated in the arrest of the driver in charge of transporting them, which is already in pretrial detention. Following this arrest, and through various investigative proceedings, the agents have succeeded in identifying a criminal structure whose criminal activity is based on arms and drug trafficking. The investigation, declared secret, has been carried out by agents of the Drugs and Organized Crime Unit of the Provincial Police Station of Malaga.

Weapons of war and grenades are already out of criminal field

The researchers point out that it is a criminal structure whose objective is based mainly on trafficking activities of arms and narcotic substances. Highly specialized criminals who made it necessary to involve units such as the Special Security Operational Group (GOES) and the Air Media Unit for a first seizure of these weapons, which were being transported and whose driver was arrested during the police operation, driving a tourism, carrying six automatic long guns, three hand grenades, magazines and numerous cartridges.

Knowing that after this initial seizure a whole criminal network was hidden, the investigations found more members of this network. On Monday, UDYCO agents Costa del Sol intercepted a vehicle loaded with 120 kilograms of cocaine, culminating in the arrest of two other people.

Also, within the framework of this operation, the fourth member of the criminal network was arrested. As a result, entries and searches have been made in different municipalities of the province of Malaga in which narcotic substances –60 kilograms of hashish, 3000 pills of ecstasy and 650 grams of tusi- were found along with numerous weapons -30 assault rifles, 11 hand grenades, 11 pistols, 7 silencers, 8 bulletproof vests and two ballistic plates prepared to withstand ammunition

It is an investigation declared under secrecy of the Civil Section and led by the Civil and Instructional Section of the Court of Instance of Vélez-Málaga, Plaza No 4 and with the impulse of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
