The military is conducting airstrikes in Myawaddy Township, and heavy weapons are falling on the Thai side. The monk of the Three-story Buddhist Monastery is seriously injured by a 500-pound bomb fired by the military.

Fierce fighting is taking place between the military council and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) in Myawaddy Township, Karen State, on the Thai-Myanmar border, with the military council launching a fierce offensive using MiG-29 fighter jets, drones, and heavy weapons, according to border military sources and Thai media reports.

In recent days, troops under the 22nd Division of the military have been continuously attacking KNLA camps in and around Minlappan Village, Myawaddy Township. The military also carried out heavy airstrikes last night and this morning.

The military council's forces conducted bombing raids with MiG-29 fighter jets, continuously attacked KNLA bases with drones and heavy weapons, and also sent ground troops forward to launch offensives, resulting in very intense fighting between the two sides.

A Karen military source said that the monk was seriously injured when the army dropped a 500-pound bomb on the Rakhine Buddhist monastery near the Three Gorges during airstrikes yesterday.

In addition, the military also bombed KNLA bases in Walley with MiG-29 fighter jets, causing damage.

As the fighting between the two sides spread to the Thaung Rin River on the Myanmar-Thai border, M60 machine gun and artillery shells fired by the military council troops fell into Thailand, hitting homes and metal fences of local residents in Mae Sot Township, forcing local residents to flee for safety.

The Thai military and Border Patrol Police have reportedly inspected the areas where the bullets hit, collected bullet fragments, and documented them to report to higher authorities.

According to Thai security sources, the military has been conducting an offensive to capture KNLA strongholds for nearly a year, but has not yet been able to breach the KNLA's defenses or capture the strongholds.

At around 11:10 p.m. on July 28, the sounds of heavy artillery fire from the military council were heard from the other side of Myawaddy, and local residents said that the tremors, like an earthquake, were felt as far as the Mae Sot border area in Thailand.
