The military bombed the town of Ma Bhim with aircraft, killing and injuring civilians and causing extensive damage, including to homes. In Phapun, the military bombed a school and a village.

Yangon, July 28

Locals told Yangon Times that the terrorist army dropped bombs on Ma Bhim town in northern Shan State this morning, killing and injuring civilians and damaging homes, vehicles, and many public properties. At around 11 a.m. today, a fighter jet from the Tada U Air Force dropped two bombs on Wards (2) and (3) of Ma Bhim Township.

The airstrikes resulted in civilian casualties and extensive damage to homes, vehicles, and other public property. The death toll, injuries, and damage are still being recorded. "We are still collecting reports of casualties and damage. There is a lot of damage. There are also deaths," a local source said. Similarly, the Karen Education & Culture Department (KECD) has issued a statement calling on the international community to take effective action against the perpetrators of the July 16 military airstrike on Htee Law Thitha Village, Dwe Lo Township, Hpa Pun District, Karen State.

The airstrike reportedly damaged the Htee Lau Thitha Primary School building, textbooks, desks, teaching aids, and sports equipment, as well as 12 public houses. In addition, 1 cow, 2 goats, 2 pigs, and 2 chickens raised by locals also died. KECD points out that while the terrorist army talks to the people about peace, in reality it is continuously carrying out artillery shelling, drone strikes, and aerial bombardment targeting villages, public homes, schools, hospitals, and religious buildings. The attacks have left local residents living under security threats, suffering physical and psychological harm, and children losing their right to education, KECD said. Therefore, KECD and local residents are calling on the international community to take immediate and effective action to hold those responsible for the airstrikes on civilians and educational facilities accountable and to prevent further harm to innocent civilians.
