Two civilians, including a 3-year-old child, were killed in a military drone strike in Long Syaung, and the military also carried out airstrikes in Mahlaing.
Yangon, July 27
A drone attack by a military council column from Laung Sya town in Saw Township, Magway Region, killed two civilians, including a 3-year-old child, and seriously injured one, according to a source in the Yaw region. Yesterday, July 26, at around 2:00 p.m., a military council column from Longshai township dropped a drone bomb on the village of Khakhin (cane field) east of Thigone village in Saw Township.
A 3-year-old boy and a middle-aged man died on the spot, while another man was seriously injured in the right leg. "They are deliberately dropping bombs on the village without any fighting. They are afraid of being attacked and are hiding in the mountains and coming back. We have not reached Sao town yet and are only halfway there. We are urging people along the route of the military column to stay away from the column," said a source in the Yaw region.
The military council column, with a force of about 400, set out from Laung Shai town on July 24, heading towards Saw town, intending to launch an offensive against Kan Pet Let town in southern Chin State in conjunction with the military council forces in Saw town. Locals say that the military council, which is based in the Yaw region and is conducting military operations in southern Chin State, has increased its air and drone bombing attacks targeting local residents after suffering numerous casualties during the fighting. Therefore, the revolutionary forces have warned the public to always monitor military and air news and pay special attention to security.
Similarly, on July 26, two military council aircraft from the Meiktila Air Force dropped four bombs on the southern area of Si To Group, Mahlaing Township, Mandalay Region, according to the Public News Network (Mahlaing). "There was no damage. There were no injuries to the public or damage to homes. The military council carried out an airstrike south of the Si To group in Mahlaing Township and dropped four bombs," said an official from the Public News Network (Mahlaing). Although there were no civilian casualties or damage to homes as a result of the military's airstrikes, the revolutionary forces have urged local residents to closely monitor security news and exercise extreme caution as the military council continues to use airstrikes and drones to attack areas where there has been no fighting.
