A roadside mine explosion in Hpakant left 2 people injured and 1 person in critical condition, while a military drone attack in Chauk damaged some schools.

Yangon, July 26

Locals told Yangon Times that a roadside mine exploded near a military council-controlled area in Hpakant Township, Kachin State, injuring two people and leaving one critically injured. Today, July 26, at around 8:20 a.m., a roadside mine exploded near the Kargyi Kwin Akyaw Monastery in Khun Sa Kone, Lone Khin Village Tract. The landmine explosion hit two public vehicles, and two people in a private car were injured, one of whom is in critical condition.

After the incident, local social welfare organizations arrived and transported the injured in emergency vehicles for medical treatment. "One of the injured is said to be in critical condition. I don't know for sure about the rest. I understand that the area where the incident occurred is just a small area where military dogs are stationed and controlled," said a local resident.

According to local residents, the site where the mine explosion occurred is located a stone's throw from an area controlled by military council forces.

Additionally, local residents told Yangon Times that some of the school buildings were damaged when the military council attacked a school in Sutan San village, Chauk Township, Magway Region, with drones. At approximately 11:11 p.m. on July 19, a suicide drone from the 416th Infantry Battalion based in Saley attacked the school in Suthansan village. No civilians were injured in the attack, but some of the school buildings were damaged. "There were no injuries to the people. There was no damage to any houses. The school was slightly damaged. The flagpole of the school was destroyed. It is understood that the attack was carried out by suicide drones from the 416th Infantry Battalion based in Sale," said a local resident.
