Russian jet-powered Shahed drone hits residential building in Kharkiv: Casualties reported.

Russian forces attacked Kharkiv on July 28 with a Shahed-type jet-powered drone. The drone struck a five-story residential building, causing a fire, with the number of injured people increasing, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Syniehubov.


At 5:15 p.m. Kyiv time, Terekhov reported a strike in Kharkiv’s Novobavarskyi district.

At 5:27 p.m., the mayor clarified that a Russian attack drone had hit a five-story residential building. A fire broke out at the scene, and all relevant emergency services were deployed to deal with the aftermath.

Later, Terekhov said the drone was a Shahed-type jet-powered UAV. The strike caused the roof of the five-story building to catch fire, and all residents were quickly evacuated.

As of 5:44 p.m., two people were reported injured as a result of the Russian attack.

At the same time, Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Syniehubov said that, according to preliminary information, a 67-year-old woman was injured. Medics provided her with the necessary assistance.

Later, Syniehubov clarified that the fire on the building’s roof spread across about 200 square meters. The blast wave also damaged windows in nearby apartment buildings and a civilian vehicle.

As of 6:02 p.m., the number of injured people had risen to five. Medics continue providing assistance, while emergency crews are working at the scene to eliminate the consequences of the Russian attack.

Earlier, on July 26, Russian forces struck Kharkiv’s Slobidskyi district with a Banderol munition. The weapon hit a private residential house, killing a 40-year-old woman and injuring 12 others, including two children.

The attack also damaged more than ten private residential buildings.
