Locals reported that two drivers were seriously injured when a landmine exploded on the morning of July 26 in the Khun Sa Kone area of ​​Lone Khin district, Hpakant Township, Kachin State. “Yesterday, a landmine exploded. A landmine exploded on the road near the monastery, near the Khun Sa Kone Kargyi Kwin Akyaw, Lone Khin District. Only civilians were hit,” said a local man.

He said the incident occurred within an arm's length of an area controlled by the military council, and the injured were seriously injured. “I don’t know if it was a timed mine at 8:22 a.m. or not. Two people were injured. The mine exploded three times. Last time, two exploded near there,” said another local man.

Driver U Aung Ko Oo was seriously injured after being hit on the right side of his abdomen, while driver Aung Gyi was seriously injured after being hit on the right side of his head and right leg. The Hpakant-Lone Khin region has been the scene of frequent clashes between KIA and military forces since last year, with landmine explosions occurring frequently along the road and in jade mining areas. According to local residents, two mines had exploded near the same location before this incident, and this time, three mines exploded in quick succession. So far, no armed group has made any statement regarding the landmine explosion.
