LIVE OAK, Fla. -- Police in Live Oak are investigating a suspicious device found near the intersection of 2nd Street and Hillman Avenue.

Officers secured the immediate area and notified nearby residents and businesses as a precaution. The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was requested and was en route to evaluate and assess the device.

Police said there is no confirmed threat immediately, but they are taking precautions to ensure public safety. The public was asked to avoid the area until it has been evaluated and cleared.
