On 17 July 2026, Iranian forces (coded IRGC by default) launched an unspecified number of projectiles targeting the US Al Tanf military base in Tanf (Duma, Rural Damascus), in retaliation for the killing of Iranian soldiers in Iranshahr, Sistan and Baluchistan Province. The IRGC claimed it destroyed a radar system, several special operations helicopters, and killed numerous U.S. troops. According to a Syrian government source, the attack fell 'outside the threat zone' (likely an open area). There were no casualties.
