On 14 July 2026, in Kan Lay Kone village (Natmauk township, Magway district, Magway region), the Myanmar military conducted airstrikes and dropped bombs and opened fire with a machine gun at a school with an MI-35 helicopter that came from the Nyaung-U airbase around 1 pm without an armed clash occurring. A grade-9 student was killed and eight students (three 10-year-old boys, a 12-year-old boy, a 13-year-old boy, a 4-year-old boy, a 5-year-old boy) and a 45-year-old woman were injured. A school and four houses were damaged. 1 fatality.
