On 1 August 2021, an IED planted by Al Shabaab militants detonated, targeting Jubaland security forces patrol team on route between Yaq Rar and Abdale Birole at Hara Jobo area, near Abdale Birole village (Kismaayo, Lower Juba). Two senior soldiers were killed.
